The Drunken Truth project now uses a Flash Player as the movie player, instead of Quicktime. This hasn’t been tested on PC /IE yet. The very latest version of the Flash Player will play certain mp4 file types. This includes the h.264 Codec. It seems that the quality is a little lower than the Quicktime Player, but it seems to be less CPU intensive.
The video play back of the movies has more screen tearing than in Quicktime. This is testing on an old PowerBook. Personally I want to try and configure Quicktime to work cross browser rather than using the Flash player. One other benefit of the Quicktime player is that it excepts far more codecs, and this is the real issue. That said, the Flash Player offers more interactive features, and can be extended to .swf for animations if desired.
I will do some experimenting with different encodings of h.264 within the Flash player to see if I can get the playback higher in quality.
